Catalogue note
The carver has used a russet inclusion in the stone for the mane, which is the mark of a good workshop and the principal reason for the estimate. Well polished, with a soft unctuous surface.

No chips, cracks or losses. The polish is original and undisturbed. A natural fissure to the underside, visible in transmitted light and inherent in the stone.
